Coach Murphy grew up
in upstate New York where he played U.S. Junior “A” hockey for the
Buffalo Junior Sabres on his way to Hamilton College in Clinton, New
York, where he earned degrees in Economics and Government. While at
Hamilton College, “Murph” was an all American candidate while playing
for their division III hockey team. He was their leading scorer in
1991 and earned Eastern College Athletic Conference All Star honors,
their MVP, and earned The Hamilton College “Coaches Award,” and the
school’s “Gales Award” for sportsmanship, leadership and strength of
character.
He played his professional hockey
in Oslo, Norway for Hasle Loren in their Elite Series and started
coaching while in Norway with Pee Wees. His coaching resume continued
with young players following his return to New York where he was the
assistant coach for the New York State Amateur Hockey Association
select 16 team, Head Coach of The New York City Cyclones, as well as
the head coach of the New York City Girls Empire State Team.
He has also had extensive
experience managing youth leagues and adult leagues as director of
hockey also in New York. Having served as the Head Coach of the Dublin
JV team, he was named as the first Head Coach of the Dublin Jerome
High School Varsity Ice Hockey Team for its inaugural 2004-2005
season. |
